Tablet Manufacturing Process

1.Raw Material Preparation

  • Active ingredients (vitamins, herbs, etc.) and excipients (binders, fillers, lubricants)
  • Quality testing of raw materials for purity, identity, and potency

2. Granulation (Optional but Common)

  • Wet Granulation: Liquid binder added to powders to form granules
  • Dry Granulation: Pressure-based compaction without liquid
  • Granules improve flow and compressibility

3. Blending

  • Uniform mixing of API and excipients
  • Often includes lubricants and disintegrants 

4. Tablet Compression

  • Compression of the blended powder/granules into tablet form using tablet presses
  • Rotary tablet presses used for high-volume production

5. Coating 

  • Film coating (for taste masking, stability, or controlled release)

6. Quality Control Testing

  • Weight variation
  • Hardness and friability
  • Disintegration and dissolution time
  • Microbial tests
  • Content uniformity

7. Packaging

  • Blister packs or bottles or Jars.
  • Labeling and batch coding.
